Windows 8 release date


A little while has passed now since the last release of Microsoft’s operating system, Windows 7. Enthusiasts of new tech have definitely been keeping a close eye on the progress of the software giant, with regard to its promise of a new OS.

Now, the good news leaking is that we could be having the all new OS sometime next year, 2012. According to Microsoft boss Steve Ballmer, Microsoft intends to release its latest software platform for PCs, and Tablets in 2012. Addressing a developers' conference in Tokyo, Ballmer did not however hint the exact date when the Windows 8 release will be made.

What to expect with the new Windows 8?

Microsoft is not known for making hype statements, and when it talks about devices running Windows 8 as “a new kind of device”, you can guess what to expect.  Steve Ballmer hints that the OS will come with two completely different interfaces – the traditional windows desktop and a new touch-based interface. He also hinted that ink and voice inputs have been incorporated.

Who will be locked out?

There was a great change in the system requirements during the transition from XP to Vista. This saw many people running machines with processors of speeds lower than 1GHz being locked out. There could be fears that this would happen as the market is getting filled with very fast gadgets. However, speculations reveal that there should be no major worries as the transition from Vista to Windows 7 saw no such strains. This is likely to happen with the launch of Windows 8.
